Doctor Who?

Confirmed by Marvel today, Benedict Cumberbatch will be playing Doctor Strange when the film enters theaters on November 4, 2016. (Cnet Link)

Personally, I find the news very exciting. I'm a fan of Sherlockwhich in turn made me a huge Cumberbatch fan. Most fans may know him as Khan from Star Trek Into Darkness (or maybe the voice of the dragon Smaug in the last Hobbit Movie).

I don't know much about Doctor Strange, but I know enough from watching the Marvel animated movie to know that it's a strange (yeah, I did it) character and needs an actor of tremendous chops to pull it off. I thought the previous rumored candidate, Joaquin Phoenix was a fantastic choice (he really gets lost into the characters he plays. Watch Her if you haven't already).

My only disappointment with the announcement is that with Cumberbatch's growing star (and Strange will make him a household name, mark my words) the odds of him playing my favorite doctor, Doctor Who, ended. Not that he was ever going to play the time traveling alien, but a boy can dream.

I can't wait for Doctor Strange now.

What do you think? Is Cumberbatch a good choice for Doctor Strange? (If not, who would you liked to have seen?)
